Most men enter the world of beard care products with the purchase of a beard oil. In my opinion it is also the best product you can buy. The beard oil not only cares for your beard, but also for your facial skin under your beard hair. No matter if you have a stubble beard, a full beard or a short beard, you should have a beard oil in any case!
1. Ingredients
Of course the oils play an important role with a beard oil. Two different types of oil form the basis, namely the carrier oils that care for your beard or your skin and the essential oils that are responsible for the fragrance. As the name suggests, the carrier oils must carry something, in this case the essential oils, which are added to the carrier oil in very small amounts.
The number of oil combinations is so varied that unfortunately I cannot go into all of them, as this would go beyond the scope of this article. For example, almond oil is supposed to counteract skin irritations, while apricot kernel oil is supposed to provide the skin with sufficient moisture. Other carrier oils, which are frequently found in beard oils, are e.g. jojoba oil, grape seed oil, hemp seed oil, argan oil, coconut or sunflower oil. Depending on what kind of beard and skin type you are and what you want to achieve with a beard oil, you have to find out which oil is the right one for you.

2. Smell
After you have found your personal carrier oil, you should now think about the smell of your beard oil. The essential oils are responsible for the smell of beard oil and there are over 100 different essential oils. So that this huge selection doesn't kill you, you should ask yourself what kind of type you are and which smells you like, because the smell of your future beard oil will smell you in the best case the whole day. The daily portion of freshness is provided by citrus scents, for example. If you are more of a fruity type, then fragrances such as apple or strawberry may be perfect for you. Sometimes a beard oil can even make the use of a perfume completely superfluous. But please don't overdo it.

3. Quality
Quality has its price, of course - this also applies to beard oils. Even if some beard oils may seem expensive to you at first, you have to remember that you will get something out of them for a long time. Because in the daily use you get along very well with 2-5 drops, depending upon beard length. If you pay attention to the quality when buying a beard oil, then you need less to achieve the desired effect than with cheap products. Of course you can also mix your own beard oil. Then you should make sure that you choose pure oils without chemical additives.

4. Usage
Once you have decided on a beard oil, the question now arises of how best to use it. As I mentioned before, the right amount of beard oil depends on the length of your beard. While two drops are usually enough for a three-day beard, you need about four to five drops for a short to medium full beard. If you don't want to shine like a bacon rind in the end, it's best to slowly approach the correct dosage. Once you have found the right dosage for you, dribble the appropriate amount on the palm of your hand, rub it in between your fingers and massage it well into your beard. Then you take a beard brush and brush your beard carefully so that the beard oil is distributed even better. You can perform this ritual daily in the morning after getting up and/or in the evening before going to bed.
